It's pretty much one year until I say "I do" and the first question brides-to-be get asked is "what was the proposal like?". They technically ask "how did he propose?" But I don't like to discriminate, it's not just the boys who do the asking these days you know.
Anyway, whilst I'm still wedding planning and because I love to look back at this particular moment, I thought I would share my proposal story. In early November 2013 Jase and I were on holiday at Walt Disney World. It was his first trip and my all time favourite place (it really is the most magical place on earth) so we booked Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party for our first night.
We spent the whole day at the Magic Kingdom from rope drop until around 1 am and we were feeling the jet lag. The Christmas party rolled around and we enjoyed the festive shows, fireworks and parade whilst sipping hot-chocolate as it snowed on Mainstreet USA. The fireworks were of course as always.. amazing but this was Jase's first time experiencing Disney fireworks and he was pretty much in awe the whole time. I didn't know at this point that he had planned to be getting down on one knee and popping the question, but it didn't happen. His plans went out the window, mainly because the park was so crowded that we ended up stood on top of a small wall surrounded by many, many other huddled guests. If he managed to get down to his knee at this point I would've been amazed.
The park was nearing to close after the show and everyone was heading to the hotel buses outside the front of the park. At this point Jase said he wanted to wander by the castle.. in the opposite direction to the exit. I thought it was a bit odd considering the timing, but he hadn't experienced Disney before so off we went. Fast forward to The Cinderella wishing well and I was looking at the castle amazed at how pretty the lights looked for the party. I turned around and a very nervous looking Jase was on one knee and he said..
I actually have no idea at all. I was in total shock and screamed "are you serious?!" Which I quickly of course followed with a loud "Yes!". Jase doesn't remember what he said either because he was too nervous, so that will always be a mystery. We had the best holiday and Disney really helped us celebrate. Just as well I said yes because it would've been a bloody awkward 2 weeks away if I said no right?
